Woman who didn't know she was pregnant gives birth at home as boyfriend sleeps through it

A WOMAN who did not know she was pregnant woke up in the middle of the night to give birth but her oblivious boyfriend slept through the entire delivery.

Nadia Watson woke up with what she thought were period pains but then collapsed on the bathroom floor of her Weston-super-mare home and went into labour.

The confused 22-year-old screamed as she delivered 7lbs 11oz baby Poppy all by herself but partner Lewis McSweeney dozed throughout the one hour ordeal in the next room.

Concerned neighbours alarmed by Ms Watson's screams of pain dialled 999 while police cars ambulances arrived minutes after the birth.

Ms Watson said her boyfriend, 22, initially went back to sleep when she presented their newborn daughter.

However when he woke again he was shocked to realise just what had happened.

Ms Watson said: "He can literally sleep through anything - fire alarms, the lot. I have no idea how he does it.

"I went into our bedroom after I had given birth and showed Lewis the baby but he just went back to sleep.

"I woke him up again and he realised what had happened and he was completely in shock."

Ms Watson had been working two jobs at the time, at Frankie and Benny's and Blockbuster, and would help her pregnant neighbour carry her shopping.

She said she had no clue that she was pregnant and throughout her pregnancy had remained a size 10 and only put on a bit of weight. Read more at Express UK
