Drama teacher charged with series of sexual offences against a teenage boy

Drama teacher Kelly Burgess faces four counts of sexual offences against a teenager and abuse of a position of trust.
Kelly Burgess
A female drama teacher from South Wales has been charged with a series of sexual offences against a teenager. Pretty blonde Kelly Burgess, from Newport, has been suspended from her job as a drama teacher at St Katherine's School in Bristol, according to Wales Online.

The 26-year-old faces four charges of adult abuse of a position of trust - sexual activity with a boy between 13 and 17 years. The alleged incidents cover a period between January and late August last year.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said: “Kelly Ann-Marie Burgess, aged 26, of Grosmont Way, Newport, has been charged with four sexual offences against a teenager.

“The incidents happened between January 1, 2013, and August 28, 2013.

“She is due to appear at North Somerset Magistrates’ Court at Worle on March 17.

“She has been charged with four counts of adult abuse of position of trust - sexual activity with a boy between 13 and 17 years.”

A spokesman for North Somerset council confirmed a teacher had been suspended from their post while the allegations were investigated. The spokesman said: “We can confirm that a member of staff at a North Somerset school has been suspended. As the matter is currently the subject of a police investigation, it would be inappropriate to comment any further.”

St Katherine’s School, where Burgess works within the performing arts department, has almost 1,000 students aged between 11 and 19. An inspection by England’s schools watchdog Ofsted last September reported that the school “requires improvement”.

Man tries to pay Valentine’s Day restaurant bill with ‘trillion dollar’ note

We doubt there’s a place in the world that could break a ‘trillion dollar bill’ but that didn’t stop this man from reportedly trying to pay with one.
Michael Williams
Michael Williams, from Sumter, South Carolina, offered to pay his restaurant bill with the high value currency after his debit card was rejected on February 14, according to The State. But unsurprisingly the staff at the Applebee’s outlet did not think the note was legitimate and promptly rang police.

The 53-year-old was arrested at the restaurant but not in relation to the bill.

The authorities decided to ignore his alleged claims of being a trillionaire and instead picked him up for a pending contempt of a magistrate’s court charge.
