Student has phone stolen, seeks date with new owner

A student whose phone was stolen has told the woman who ended up with the device that she can keep it – as long as she agrees to meet him. Niklaus Knecht was shocked when photos of the female appeared in his dropbox after the mobile was stolen while he was asleep on a train.

The 24-year-old had left the picture- upload function operating on his device at the time. He worked out from the photographs that the woman lives in Morocco and now wants to get in touch with her.

‘I’m keen to find out more about her,’ said Mr Knecht, from Switzerland.

‘I’d like to meet her and I’m prepared to travel to Morocco to see her.’

‘It would be interesting to find out how she ended up getting the phone, although I’m sure she had nothing to do with the original theft. I guess she bought it from whoever stole it.’

Some of the pictures show the woman’s family in traditional clothing while others are of her lying on a bed, showing off new clothes, and posing next to a waterfall or in a park.

‘The photos are a pretty good general view of everyday life in Morocco,’ Mr Knecht added. His phone was stolen in April when he fell asleep on a train to Zurich. He woke up to find someone had sliced open his jacket pocket and stolen it.

Mr Knecht, who has set up a Facebook page to contact the woman, added: ‘She’s welcome to keep the phone.’ - Metro UK
