Author pens chick lit novel

She’s fallen for Mr Wrong only to discover Mr Right was under her nose the whole time – but not without a few cocktails along the way.

The hallmarks of chick lit have provided women (and some men) with escapism for years.

Until now actual chicks have missed out on all the excitement. Not any more. The author Catherine Alliott has taken a break from penning romance for humans to write an audio book for hens.

It’s called Falling for Clooney and centres on Molly and her roller-coaster relationship with the ‘devilishly handsome’ cock Clooney.

‘I’ve been writing tales of romance for more than 20 years but penning chick lit for actual chicks is a first,’ said Mrs Alliott, the author of 12 novels. ‘I’ve grown up with animals, and now have over 80 of my own, including a flock of bantams. So combining my love of animals and writing was an opportunity too good to miss.’

The story was commissioned by the Happy Egg Co, after researchers found the human voice had a calming effect on laying birds.

‘I’ve thoroughly enjoyed sharing Falling for Clooney with the hens. They’re good listeners and my first feathered critics,’ said Mrs Alliott.
